Patna: Bihar Health Department Principal Secretary Amarjeet Sinha on Friday said his department would be able to spend 85 per cent of the funds received under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

"We will be able to use 85 percent of the funds received under NRHM in Bihar by March end," Sinha told reporters.

Sinha said the state had its quota of Rs 1098 crore under NRHM for 2011-12 but the centre had so far provided Rs 600 crore.

"We are requesting Centre to release the rest of the funds under this programme. We will be able to utilise 85 percent of the funds under NRHM during the current fiscal," Sinha said.

Sinha further said the state government had utilised an amount of Rs 386 crore during 2008-09, Rs 500 crore during 2009-10 and Rs 590 crore by end of December under NRHM.

"Even the state share too is being spent on several occasions," he said.
