Patna: A meeting of the newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators in Bihar is scheduled to be held here on Thursday to elect the leader of the legislature party.
Party leaders Arun Jaitley, Ananth Kumar and Dharmendra Pradhan will attend the meeting as central observers.
The decision to send the three leaders as observers was taken at the BJP parliamentary board meeting, which hailed the unprecedented victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar.
According to sources, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi is likely to be re-elected as leader of the legislative party.
The BJP-Janata Dal-United (JD-U) combine led by Nitish Kumar has swept the Assembly elections in Bihar by winning more than three-fourth majority.
JDU - BJP combine has notched a spectacular tally of 206 seats in the 243-member House. JDU alone won 115 seats just 7 seats short of majority. BJP bagged 91 seats.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) alliance and Congress have fared badly. RJD was way behind getting only 22 and LJP got three. Congress won four seats and others eight.
