Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday said that the results of the bypolls held in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan, reveals the mandate of the people and indicates that it is time for the end of politics of polarisation.

Lalu took to Twitter shortly after the bypoll results were declared and congratulated people on defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) divisive politics.

The RJD chief further said that the bypolls united the people at the ground level. He added that while some factions have come together, others will soon be united.

The bypoll results in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat turned out to be bad news for the BJP which had registered a record win in the recently held Lok Sabha polls.

While BJP had won 80 Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, it lost 13 of the 24 Assembly seats held by it in the by-elections.

In Rajasthan, Congress won three of the four BJP seats. Similarly, the party lost three of its nine seats in Gujarat.

The only good news for the party was in West Bengal where it marked its entry into the state Assembly.
