Patna: Expressing reservations about the
ongoing police probe in the Purnia BJP MLA Raj Kishore Keshari
murder case, senior Congress leader Ranjit Ranjan Friday said
she would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home
Minister P Chidambaram seeking an inquiry by the CBI.

"In the given circumstances, a fair and honest
investigation by state police is not possible," the former MP
told reporters here citing the statement of Deputy Chief
Minister S K Modi which gave a clean chit to the slain MLA.

"Such statement is aimed at influencing the
probe...and I would be leaving for New Delhi to request the
Prime Minister and Home Minister to intervene immediately and
order an independent inquiry by the CBI," Ranjan said.

Disapproving reports that Rupam Pathak, the woman
accused of stabbing the MLA to death, was `mentally unfit`,
Ranjan said it must be probed what prompted her to take the
extreme step.

Keshari was stabbed to death in full public view at
his residence in Bihar`s Purnia town on Tuesday when he was
interacting with visitors.
