Patna: Cold wave is likely to grip parts of
Bihar in the next couple of days with the minimum temperature
dipping at various places.

According to MeT sources, there is a danger of cold wave
at isolated places in Bihar and Jhakhand on Sunday and the day
after due to northerly winds blowing from the Himalayan
region.

Gaya was the coldest district in the state yesterday at
5.2 deg C. It rose to 6.9 deg C on Saturday.

Patna recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 deg C,
Bhagalpur at 10.6 deg C and Purnia 10.8 deg C, they said.

Cold and foggy conditions will prevail in Patna during
the next 24 hours, MeT office director Animesh Chanda said.

Several trains were either cancelled or rescheduled due
to foggy conditions. Train drivers have been asked by Railway
authorities to maintain maximum precautions, official sources
said.

Deputy Chief Minister SK Modi said the authorities have
been asked to make all arrangements, including distribution of
blankets among the poor.
