New Delhi: Former MP Ranjita Ranjan, who joined Congress after leaving the LJP some time back, is among the 46 candidates announced by the Congress tonight for Bihar Assembly polls.
Ranjita is the wife of former MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav who is currently in jail in connection with a murder case.
The list includes as many as 13 Muslims, reflecting the party strategy to field a number of people from the minority community to make inroads into RJD supremo Lalu Yadav`s base.
This is the second list of candidates announced by the Congress, which has already released the names of 77 nominees. The party has announced that it would contest in all 243 seats in the six-phase Assembly elections beginning on October 21.
