Patna: The ruling JD(U) Legislature Party in Bihar assembly and legislative council on Friday pledged that corruption would not be tolerated at any level in Bihar.
"Corruption at any level will not be tolerated," JD(U) Chief Whip in Bihar assembly Shravan Kumar said in a press statement after the JD(U)LP meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at latter`s official residence.
The meeting decided that all MLAs and MLCs of the party would have to be vigilant to check corruption at any level, Kumar said observing "whosoever may be found involved in corruption will not be spared”.
The meeting also decided that the law-makers of the ruling party would personally supervise the `Green Bihar Campaign` and every MLA and MLC must ensure plantation of 40,000 trees in their respective constituencies, he said.
He claimed said Bihar was the first state after independence where 28,000 senior-most citizens unfurled the nation tricolour at every Mahadalit `tola` on the Independence
Kumar said the meeting asked ruling party MLAs to be present in their constituencies during the time of distribution of cheque function for construction of houses under the `Indira Awas Yojana`.
The party MLAs and MLCs should also maintain close vigil on execution of welfare and other schemes in their respective areas, he said.
Besides chief minister, several party ministers, state party chief Bashishtha Narayan Singh, MLAs and MLCs also attended the meeting which welcomed the merger of the three member LJP legislature party in the state legislative council and lone member JMM legislature party with the JD(U).
