Drug controller booked for amassing disproportionate assets

Acting on a tip off, a vigilance team raided Singh's flat in the state capital and ancestral house in Maheshpur village in Begusarai district yesterday.

The team found that Singh had amassed disproportionate assets worth Rs 45.29 lakh beyond the known sources of his income during his service period, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Vigilance Ravinder Kumar said.

The properties amassed by the drug controller comprised three flats in the state capital in the name of his wife, son and father, Kumar said, adding documents related to LIC policy, Tata-AIG life insurance and three bank accounts in the name of self and wife were also seized from his flat.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Singh at Vigilance police station in the state capital, the ADG said.

Further investigations were on, he said.
