Police on Friday busted eight illegal minigun factories in a forest in Bariyarpur police station area here and arrested one person in connection with it.

"Acting on a tip-off, police raided Rishikund forest and busted eight illicit minigun factories," Superintendent of Police (SP), Varun Kumar Sinha said.

Rajaram Paswan, who ran one of these eight minigun factories, has been arrested while the owners of seven other units managed to flee, the SP said.

As many as 19 automatic pistols, two magazines, two crude bombs and a large quantity of equipments used for processing illicit weapons were seized from these minigun factories, he said.

During interrogation, Paswan told police that Maoists had forced them to run the minigun factories to meet their requirements for arms to carry out naxal activities in the district and adjoining areas, Sinha said.
