FIR against Bihar Congress chief for poll code violation

Patna: An FIR has been lodged against Bihar
Congress president Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser for allegedly
violating the model code of conduct ahead of the assembly

In the FIR registered by sub divisional officer Maqsood
Alam, Kaiser has been charged with defacement of public
property in the state capital for electoral purposes.

Earlier acting on media reports, Additional District
Magistrate (ADM), Law and Order, Ramesh Prasad had ordered
Alam to probe the erection of a hoarding on a hotel building
for electoral purposes. It found Kaiser guilty for ordering
the putting up of the hoarding which was later removed by the
district administration.

Besides Kaiser, BJP ministers Ram Pravesh Rai and
Ashvani Kumar Choubey have also been booked for allegedly
violating the model code.

Rai, the state Tourism Minister, was charged with
instructing authorities concerned to conduct flood-fighting
operation at an embankment of river Gandak in his Baraouli
constituency in Gopalganj district, while Choubey, PHE
minister, was accused of making announcements for making the
airport at Bhagalpur operational for domestic flights.

Choubey has also been charged with holding a meeting of
BJP workers in the town without the permission from Bhagalpur
district authorities.

The six-phase poll in Bihar will be held between October
21 and November 20.
