Bhabhua: An FIR was on Friday lodged against RJD MP Jagdanand Singh`s son Ajit Singh for allegedly assaulting a Bihar government official in Kaimur district.
In the FIR lodged at Mohania police station, Ram Sujan Singh, a paddy procurement centre in-charge, has alleged that he was assaulted by the RJD MP`s son and his four associates at Durwawati block after he refused to show them a register, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Javed Mehmood said.
He said that an investigation is underway in the matter. The RJD MP`s son has, however, refuted the allegation and said that he visited Singh`s office to verify complaints by some farmers that a commission of Rs 80 per quintal was being demanded and taken from the farmers by the officials in lieu of procurement of their produces.
"Some local farmers had met me and narrated that the procurement officials were demanding commission in lieu of purchasing their produces," Ajit said adding that the farmers also alleged that the officials had hired middlemen to fix the deal on their behalf.
The RJD MP`s son further alleged that the procurement officials were adopting pick-and-choose policy in procuring paddy from some farmers and rejected offer from other farmers.
Singh said that he had visited the paddy procurement centre to check stock and paddy procurement register and added that he did not assault the paddy procurement in-charge as was being claimed by the latter. Jagdanand Singh, a senior RJD leader, represents Buxar seat in the Parliament.
