Patna: Stepping up protests over BJP President Nitin Gadkari's derogatory remarks against him, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Friday said his party will hold demonstrations across Bihar on May 18.

"We are not going to leave the issue alone and we will step up our struggle against Gadakari for such an irresponsible and indecent remark," Prasad told reporters here.

Earlier the party leaders, who met here under the chairmanship of Prasad, adopted a resolution condemning Gadkari's remark.

Gadkari, at a public meeting in Chandigarh on Wednesday, had said, "Mulayam Singh aur Lalu Prasad jo Congress aur UPA ke virodh ki baat karte hain, woh bhi jaakar CBI ke saamne jhuk gaye .... bade dakartey the sher jaise, ab kuttey ke jaise ban kar Soniaji aur Congress key ghar par talve chatney lagey (Mulayam and Lalu who speak against Congress and UPA, they too have bowed before CBI .... these leaders were roaring like lions but later bowed like dogs to lick the feet of Sonia and Congress)."

Meanwhile, Prasad said his party will hold a 'jail bharo' protest on August 8 demanding the implementation of Sachar committee and Ranganath Mishra commission recommendations and also to protest rising prices of essential commodities.

He also trained his guns on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing him of failing to address the problems faced by the state. "In fact, Nitish has lost confidence of the people," he said.

He slammed the state government for its "failure" to implement several welfare schemes, including MGNREGA and Indira Awas Yojana.
