Gaya road rage: Accused Rocky Yadav denies shooting teen, says was in Delhi at the time of incident

Patna: Rakesh Ranjan Yadav alias Rocky, son of Janata Dal United (JDU) MLC, who was arrested on charges of killing a teen in Gaya road rage case, on Tuesday told police that he did not shoot the deceased.

"Maine goli nahi maari. Me Dilli me tha jab ye sab kuch hua. Mataji ka phone aaya to phir mein Gaya aaya. (I didn't shoot anybody. I was in Delhi when the incident happened. I received a call from my mother and came to Gaya)," said Rocky Yadav, accused of firing shots at class 12 student Aditya Sachdeva in a fit of rage when the latter's car overtook his SUV on May 7 night.

When asked about the reason behind his hiding from the police, Rocky said that he wasn't hiding anywhere and will give his statement in the court. "Kahin chupne ki koi baat hi nahi he. Me apna jawab nyayalaya me dunga."

While according to another report, police said that the accused has confessed to his crime. "We will arrest others who were also involved in student's murder," one of the police officials said.

Rocky was arrested after the Bihar Police conducted several raids across Gaya.

A foreign made weapon used by him in crime has also been recovered from him, Gaya Senior Superintendent of Police Garima Malik said told media.

It is to be noted that Rocky, 30, did not surrender and was absconding since the incident. He was arrested at wee hours today from his father's hot mix plant at Bodh Gaya, about 15 km from Gaya.

On the other hand, victim Aditya Sachdev's father has called for a speedy trial in the case. "There must be a speedy trial and Rocky Yadav must be hanged so that such incidents do not repeat," he appealed.

"The culprit should face the most stringent probe. Bihar and the entire country is looking forward for an impartial probe into my teenaged son's killing. The culprit shouldn't get bail under any circumstances. We have faith in police and CM knows what kind of probe is required," he said.
