Madhepura: A 12 year-old girl was crushed
to death by a truck near the district headquarters under
Madhepura police station area in Bihar's Madhepura district
on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Chanda Mani was riding on
her bicycle on way to school when the vehicle crushed her
under its wheels, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vijay
Kumar said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, he said.
The girl was a class VII student of a government high
school, Kumar said.
Mani's death sparked off protest by local people who
blocked road traffic demanding compensation to her family.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot to pacify
the agitators.
