Patna: Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan, acceptance of whose resignation from the post of state JD(U) chief ended a fortnight-long uncertainty, today said he would continue to serve the party as an ordinary member.
Singh`s resignation, submitted to the national JD(U) president Sharad Yadav on February 1, was accepted yesterday after he refused to take back his papers.
Singh told the media he would continue his struggle for restoration of inner party democracy and check on `unrestrained` bureaucracy.
Asked, he said he neither opposed nor accepted the appointment of Vijay Choudhary in his place.
"Sharadji called me and sought my consent on the new president. But I refused to do so since I have already resigned from the post and asked him to consult Chief Minister
Nitish Kumar instead in this regard," he said.
"I maintained a neutral stand on the issue as there was nothing for me to do after I quit the post," Singh added.
