‘I will strengthen the JD(U) at grassroot level’: Singh
Bashishtha Narayan Singh described the victory of the NDA as extra-ordinary’ and said the party had to deliver at all costs.
Patna: Newly-appointed Bihar JD(U) president
and ex-MP Bashishtha Narayan Singh on Tuesday pledged that he would strive for further strengthening the organisation from
Panchayat to all levels.
"I will further strengthen the organisation from
Panchayas to all levels", Singh said after assuming charge of
office in presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Kumar, on this occasion, stated that the landslide
victory of the NDA was "a victory of the people, not the NDA
or JD(U)" and said whatever promises the party made in its manifesto would be fulfilled and duly implemented for the people.
He said he would also assign his party ministers to visit
the party office on a regular basis to hear and redress the
grievances of party workers.
In reply to a question, Singh hinted at taking stern
action against the party leaders who acted against the party
interests in the recently-concluded elections.
"We will not tolerate anyone who will defy the party
line and work against its interests", he said.

Answering a question, the Chief Minister said though
recognition of leader of opposition of the state assembly was
a prerogative of the speaker who would be elected on December
2, ‘our attitude to the selection of the name for the post
will be elastic.’
