Patna: Information technology giant Infosys is likely to set up its first software development centre in Bihar and the state government is planning to provide it with land, an official said on Sunday.

"Infosys officials approached the state government for land to set up its centre. The government is considering to provide land at Bihta near Patna," an official in the Chief Minister's office said.

Officials said it was still in an early stage and will be decided either by the end of March or April.

The government has decided to develop an IT park in Bihta, 30 km from Patna. Bihta is well-connected by road and rail.

According to officials, Infosys has shown keen interest for a plot near Bihta as it has emerged as the fast growing area after the state government acquired hundreds of acres for setting up IIT campus, Patna.

"IT giant Infosys is to set up its first centre in Bihar. It is a big news for Bihar, which has recorded high growth in the last few years," an IT department official said here.

However, government officials said it was not clear how much investment Infosys will make in Bihar.

Cheers !
Good news for Bihar !
Will be the remarkable day when the IT park will get materialized. Let’s hope for the best.
Further request from all the Bihari leaders, industrialist and entrepreneurs and Bihar Govt : Please set up at least 3-4 industrial park in backward/undeveloped area of Bihar with all infrastructures facilities like Electricity, Road, Rail, Water and a special task force team of officials to accelerate the approval of proposals from industrialists. This will create lot of opportunities for Bihar and Biharis. Let our present CM should now think on these issues also very seriously.

Very Good Initiative by Infosys and an eye opener to other IT giants like IBM, Accenture, Amdocs etc. No doubts Bihar govt will have to provide good security and power to these companies in order to lure others as well. I appreciate Mr.Nitish Kumar for promoting IT set up in bihar and creating such a good and favorable environment for companies to grow in bihar.
