Siwan: JD(U) MLA Shyam Sunder Singh on Monday surrendered before a court in Bihar's Siwan district in a 20 year-old case criminal case and was released on bail.

He surrendered before Additional District Judge RK Singh and applied for bail which was granted to him on a personal bond of Rs 10,000.

Singh, who represents Barharia Assembly seat, and 11 others were booked under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC and Arms Act following an incident of firing in the district office in 1992.

The MLA had gone underground after a court issued a non-bailable warrant against him on September 28 last year.

Another accused Jitendra Swami was arrested and sent to jail in 2004.
