Siwan: Campaign for the bypoll to Daraunda
Assembly constituency in Bihar's Siwan district reached a
crescendo on Saturday with JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav and
RJD chief Lalu Prasad blaming each other's party for the
state's backwardness.
Holding meetings at Daraunda and Bagaura, Prasad accused
senior BJP leader L K Advani of making Sitabdiara, the birth
place of Loknayak Jaya Prakash Narain in Saran district,
"unholy" by making it the starting point of his 'Chetna Yatra'
against corruption.
Advani, he said, is guilty of the demolition of Babri
Masjid and the Bihar government led by Nitish Kumar was
"committing a sin by according red-carpet welcome to Advani".
"Kumar's claim of being secular stands exposed now... He
is party to the communal alliance as he will flag off the
yatra," he said, adding that the state government was a
failure on all fronts.
Whatever development had taken place in Bihar was
because of the UPA government at the Centre, Prasad claimed
and alleged that the state government was taking credit for
the rail road over bridges sanctioned when he was railway
minister.
Sharad Yadav, on the other hand, blamed Prasad for the
backwardness of the state. "Lalu Prasad nautanki baaz hain
(Lalu is an actor)... The state's backwardness is because of
the 15-year-long misrule of Lalu-Rabri duo," he said.
He highlighted the steps taken by the Nitish Kumar
government for the state's development.
RJD has fielded Parmeshwar Singh, while JD(U) has put up
Kavita Kumari from the seat where the bypoll has been
necessitated following the demise of the ruling party MLA
Jagmato Devi.
The bypoll will take place on October 13.
