Patna: The Janata Dal (United) on Friday wrote a letter to the Bihar Director General of Police, seeking action against Chief Minister Jitam Ram Manjhi for saying he had accepted “commission” from engineers involved in government projects.

Manjhi admitted to receiving “commission” at a public meeting in Patna.

Addressing teachers present at the meeting at Gandhi Maidan, Manjhi reportedly said he had been accepting money from engineers but would not do so from now on, and instead use the money for the welfare of teachers.

"More money is spent on construction of pillars than bridges... these engineers and technocrats give some money to contractors and to me too... I also get commission...," the CM admitted.

Manjhi has already been expelled from his party for refusing to step down as CM, in order to make way for Nitish Kumar.
