The Bihar government has set up a judicial commission to probe an incident of police firing in which five people were killed earlier this month, officials said on Thursday.

Patna: The Bihar government has set up a judicial commission to probe an incident of police firing in which five people were killed earlier this month, officials said on Thursday.

Home Secretary Amir Subhani said that Madhvendra Sharan, a retired judge at the Patna High Court, will head the commission.

On June 3, police fired at villagers protesting against an upcoming factory near Forbesganj in Araria district, about 350 km from here.
Five people, including a pregnant woman and a six-month-old baby, were killed while nine others were injured in the incident.
