Lalu`s followers distribute sweets among poor

Ranchi: The activists of Jharkhand unit of RJD today distributed sweets among the poor after the Supreme Court granted bail to its leader Lalu Prasad Yadav in a fodder scam case.

"Sweets were distributed among the poor in Ranchi and several RJD workers burst crackers, as we are waiting eagerly the release of our leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, latest by Monday," party's state unit spokesman Manoj Kumar told reporters here.

"The party workers are feeling rejuvenated after the Supreme Court gave bail to our leader today," he added. After Jharkhand High Court had rejected his bail petition in a fodder case, Lalu approached the Supreme Court and obtained bail in the RC 20A/96 fodder case.

He was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment by a special CBI court here two-and-a-half month ago and lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail.
