New Delhi: Ram Vilas Paswan`s LJP on Friday
attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar saying his recent
reported "pro-Muslim" statements are nothing more than a
"political gimmick" ahead of the state assembly elections.
"Reports of Nitish Kumar demanding implementation of
Ranganath Mishra Commission recommendations for Muslims
including Scheduled Caste status for Dalit Muslims only prove
that the Bihar Chief Minister is playing a political gimmick
to cheat Muslims," LJP Secretary General Abdul Khaliq said.
Khaliq alleged that Kumar made "no efforts" for the
welfare of Muslims in Bihar during his four and a half year
rule and making such statements now "to woo them for votes."
"Kumar is enjoying power in the state with BJP`s support,
which is dead against Ranganath Mishra Commission report.
People will not be misled by such empty statements," he said.
In Patna yesterday, Kumar had blamed Congress for the
plight of the minority community of the country.
Addressing a `Pasmanda (professionally poor Muslims)
Adhikar Sammelan` there, he had said that both the Rajindar
Sachchar and Rangnath Misra committee reports have highlighted
the plight of the Muslims and made recommendations for
alleviation of their condition.
