"The Opposition is making a non-issue an issue...RJD,
LJP, and Congress are raising unnecessary controversy over the
allotment of land by Bihar Industrial Area Development
Authority (BIADA)," Modi told reporters.
Referring to Mukherjee`s report, Modi said it clearly
showed that the allotment of plots to relatives of ministers
and bureaucrats had been made as per rules.
Daring the Opposition to come out with a specific case
of irregularity, he said the BIADA had earlier made allotment
of plots to relatives of several leaders of Congress, RJD, LJP
and NCP without holding auction and claimed that more than
80 per cent of the plots allotted by BIADA so far was to the
relatives and leaders of the present Opposition parties.
When his attention was drawn to Mukherjee`s opinion
for taking legal action against a section of media for
"mischievous" report on land allotment, Modi said the official
was at liberty to make such suggestions.
Leader of the Opposition in Bihar assembly Abdul Bari
Siddiqui, however, held Mukherjee`s report as an eyewash and
renewed his demand for a CBI inquiry.
"It is nothing but an eyewash and a doctored report,"
he told reporters.
The senior RJD leader said only a thorough probe by
CBI can unravel the truth.
