Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday called for carrying out an awareness campaign among the people to build quake-resistant houses for themselves to mitigate the impact of earthquake.

Addressing the sixth meeting of Bihar Disaster Management Authority (BDMA), Kumar said that it has been observed that the earthquakes have destroyed houses and related structures and cause largescale collateral damages, comprising loss of human lives and properties.

In order to mitigate the impact of the quakes, an awareness campaign should be carried out among the people to build earthquake-resistant houses to mitigate the impact of the natural disaster, he said.

The engineers and labourers engaged in construction activities should be adequately trained to build quake-resistant structures, Kumar said.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and several ministers and officials were present at the BDMA meeting.
