Patna: Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar
today laid emphasis on adopting a multi-pronged strategy for
making the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) self-reliant.
"Adopt multi-pronged strategy for making the Board
self-reliant in energy sector," Kumar said while reviewing the
performance of the state electricity Board.
Kumar said the board should function as a commercial
organisation while rendering services to its customers and
must take steps for enhancing its efficiency.
The chief minister stressed the need for phase-wise
replacement of the 72,000 km transmission line. The faulty
transformers in rural areas and towns be changed within 72
hours and 24 hours respectively.
Stating that the state government would continue to
extend financial help to the Board which was almost "defunct"
previously, Kumar said special attention would have to be paid
on all the commercial aspects for making the Board self
reliant.
"Effective steps will have to be taken for enhancing the
revenue base but at the same time it has to be ensured that
proper bills are raised to minimise the complaints," he said.
Extra care should be taken for proper billing for
energy consumed by poor people living in slums.
