Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said he was hopeful that the Centre will favourably consider the demand for special category status to Bihar and expressed satisfaction with the talks between a delegation and inter-ministerial group in New Delhi earlier in the day.
"The talks between the a delegation of senior Bihar
officials and the inter-ministerial group has taken place in a
positive atmosphere in New Delhi and the outcome has been
satisfactory," he told reporters here.
The officials of the delegation headed by state chief
secretary Naveen Kumar made a presentation to their central
counterparts, he said and hoped that the Centre will
favourably consider the demand for accordance of special
category status to attract private investment in Bihar.
The Chief Minister said he did not visualise that the
Centre would accord the special category status to Bihar in
the immediate future and the state government was keenly
awaiting the final outcome of the talks with the
inter-ministerial group headed by the Planning Commission
member secretary Sudha Pillai.
