Nitish should ask Centre to probe bribery charges against him

When Bihar CM was accusing the Centre and the Congress of influencing the CBI to get Lalu Prasad exonerated in a DA case, he should also ask the union government to reinvestigate bribery charges against him.

Patna: When Bihar Chief Minister Nitish
Kumar was accusing the Centre and the Congress of influencing
the CBI to get RJD supremo Lalu Prasad exonerated in a
disproportionate assets case, he should also ask the union
government to reinvestigate bribery charges against him, the
Congress said today.

Kumar had prevented the CBI from filing a chargesheet
against him in the Fodder Scam when he was `a powerful
minister` in the NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee,
Bihar Congress Chief Anil Kumar Sharma alleged at a press
conference here.

"The two kingpins of the multi-crore rupee fraud --
Shyam Bihari Sinha and Umesh Kumar Singh in a statement
recorded by them before a magistrate under section 164 of the
CRPC charged Nitish Kumar with taking a bribe of Rs one crore
at the time of elections long back," he said.

He said that it was the duty of the Bihar government
and Kumar to request the Centre to assign the CBI to
reinvestigate the case and also the charge of bribery against
him.

JD(U) National spokesman Shivanand Tiwari rubbished
the allegations. "There is no substance in it."

Kumar is at present in Delhi.
