Buxar: Bihar’s popular Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cavalcade was attacked at Chausa in Buxar district on Wednesday in yet another blow to his claims of providing an accountable governance.
As per reports, the locals pelted stones at the Chief Minister’s cavalcade, protesting against the electricity and water woes being faced by them.
Six cars were reportedly damaged due to stone pelting.
The incident took place on the first day of Nitish Kumar’s much-publicised ‘seva yatra’.
As part of ‘seva yatra’, Nitish is touring all the districts of his state, starting today.
The Chief Minister has earlier said that he will use the ‘seva yatra’, expected to last over 100 days, to review the development work in state and inform people about the government`s initiatives in tackling corruption.
The attack is being construed as a big blow to Nitish Kumar’s claim of delivering sushasan (good governance) after he rode back to power for the second consecutive time in 2010.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was quick to comment on Nitish Kumar. He said, “From the past seven years, Nitish had been cheating while sitting in the lap of RSS. He is dreaming of becoming PM.
Now, Nitish has been exposed. This is the anger of the people that he is witnessing. Law and order has gone for a toss and money bungling has happened in Janni Suraksha Yojna.
We have decided to protest against it and will schedule our protests from Patna.
All secular forces need to be strengthened. We have supported Congress for the same as it is biggest party in secular form.”
Commenting on the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said, “Opposition is behind Nitish Kumar’s attack. It is not just Bihar but the whole country which is facing crisis. Centre is not giving enough coal for power plants.”
