Opposition created a ruckus in the assembly on the gangrape issue of a girl and charged the state police with protecting some of the accused.

Patna: Opposition members created a ruckus in the assembly today on the issue of gangrape of a girl here two months ago and charged the state police with protecting some of the accused belonging to influential and powerful families.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the reply by Water Resources Department Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary to a call attention motion by RJD MLA Samrat Chaudhary alias Rakesh Chaudhary and Bhai Virendra, the opposition members and shouted slogans against the state government before trooping into the well of the house.
They alleged that the state police was trying to protect some accused persons belonging to influential and powerful families in the gangrape case.

Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary asked them to return to their seats and ask supplementary questions, but they continued to raise slogans against the state government.
Amid the uproar he adjourned the house for lunch break, while the minister slammed the opposition for their conduct and said the accused will not be spared but brought to justice through speedy trial after the investigation was completed.
The girl was gangraped by about six persons at Rajvanshi Nagar here on June 14 last and the accused had prepared a CD of it and uploaded it on a website.

The police later arrested six accused persons and charged them with gangrape.

Chaudhary and Virendra had last week brought an adjournment motion in the assembly to seek the state government`s reply on the case and progress in the investigation of the case. But the Speaker had converted the adjournment motion into a call motion on August 3 and directed the state government to reply on the matter August 6.
