Patna: The Bihar Assembly on Monday witnessed
uproarious scenes during question hour as the entire
opposition led by the RJD staged a noisy walkout alleging that
the state government was not serious about providing education
loans to the students belonging to minority communities,
particularly Muslims.
Abdul Bari Siddiqui( RJD) alleged that several meritorious
minority students could not take admissions in technical and
medical institutions as the Bihar State Minority Finance
Commission failed to provide education loans to the students
in time and said this proved beyond doubt that the present
NDA dispensation headed by Nitish Kumar was anti-minority.
Replying to Siddiqui`s starred question, Minister for
Minority Development Sahid Ali Khan told the House that 207
minority students were provided loans to pursue their higher
studies during 2007-08 and 2008-09.
The applications of students could not be processed and
they were asked to wait for sometime as the Central Minority
Commission did not transfer the fund to state`s Finance
Commission.
