New Delhi: Speaking on his appointment as the Governor of Bihar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Nath Kovind said that he is `happy` about getting a chance to serve the public of the poll-bound state.
"The party has put trust in me and I am thankful for that, especially because the task that has been given is for a poll-bound state. Obviously there will be a lot of commotion, but Bihar is prosperous historically and culturally. I am happy to go there as I will get a chance to serve the public," Kovind told ANI.
President Pranab Mukherjee appointed Ram Nath Kovind and Acharya Dev Vrat as the new Governors of Bihar and Himachal Pradesh respectively today.
The above appointments will take effect from the dates the incumbents assume charge of their respective offices, a Rashtrapati Bhavan release said.
