Patna: Vociferous RJD MLAs and an
Independent legislator on Tuesday created uproarious scenes in
Bihar assembly over alleged flourishing of illegal mining in
Raising the issue during zero hour, RJD member Akhtarul
Islam Shahin raised the issue of illegal mining in Basa
protected forest areas in Rohtas district which he claimed was
unearthed after FIRs were lodged in this connection in Sasaram
He accused the state government of being hand in gloves
with those having illegal mining operations in the area.
The opposition RJD members shouted anti-government
slogans while the Independent MLA Jyoti Rashmi entered the
well of the House charging the police with falsely implicating
her husband in the illegal mining case.
Holding a big poster she sat on a dharna in the well
demanding a CBI probe into it.
After the slogan shouting by RJD members, state Water
Resources Development (WRD)minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary
replying on behalf of the state government dismissed the
opposition charge and said the state government was not under
pressure from any quarter while taking action against mining
mafia in Rohtas and Gaya districts.
Choudhary said the state government had asked the local
administration to take legal action against those involved in
illegal mining in Bihar.
The campaign against illegal mining has been launched
following directive of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
