RJD demand probe into Mahadalit family suicide
The five-member Mahadalit family allegedly committed suicide by setting themselves on fire in their house at Muzahar village.
Patna: Demanding a probe into the suicide by five members of a Mahadalit family at Aurangabad, RJD on Tuesday demanded Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to its kin.
Bihar RJD President, Ramchandra Purve told, newsmen here that the suicide was the result of intimidation by middlemen and local officials to keep irregularities in Indira Awas Yojana under wraps.
The guilty officials, should be booked on murder charges and the state government should direct the district administration to lodge murder case against the SDO, BDO, panchayat secretary and the middleman, he told reporters.
The officials, had terrorised the head of the Mahadalit family for protesting against withdrawal of Rs 20,000 from his bank account without his knowledge.
The money was meant for construction of a house under IAY, he said.
Meanwhile, RJD(Dalit) front president Suresh Ram, who yesterday visited Muzahar village where the family lived, has demanded a CBI probe in the matter.
Ram said, he would also write to Rural Development ministry seeking a probe into irregularities in IAY in Bihar.
