Patna: The brother in-law of former MP Md
Shahabuddin and sitting RJD MLA Azazul Haque, on Friday quit the
party after his claim for a ticket was passed over by the
leadership.

"I have handed over my resignation to the RJD`s office
staff in the absence of any senior leader in the party
office," he told reporters here.
The RJD leadership has ignored my rightful claim for
re-nomination from Ziradei assembly seat in Siwan district,
Haque said.

He hinted that he will contest the forthcoming assembly
polls as an independent candidate if his supporters pestered
him to do so.

The outgoing RJD MLA claimed that the RJD leadership`s
decision to deny him re-nomination from Ziradei seat has not
gone down well with his relative Sahabuddin and said that he
will decided a future course of action in consultation the
latter.

Meanwhile, the RJD national spokesman Md Iliyas Hussain
refused to attach significance to Haque`s resignation from the
party and said that any number of leaders quit their party in
the run up to the polls.
It (Haque`s resignation) will not make any difference
to the RJD`s electoral prospects, he said.
