Darbhanga (Bihar): Hailing scrapping of the allocation of funds for Local Area Development Schemes of MLAs and MLCs in Bihar, Opposition leader in the state assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui on Wednesday asked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to advise other NDA-ruled sates to take similar steps.
"I hail the decision. Kumar should advise other NDA-ruled
states as well to take similar initiative," Siddiqui told
reporters.

He, however, differed with the statements that the
decision was taken to weed out corruption.

"If the funds for MLAs and MLCs have been scrapped for
ending corruption, then the state government should also
decide to wind up the departments where corruption exists,"
Siddiqui said.
He urged Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi to
take initiative for scrapping the funds for MLAs and MLCs in
the states ruled by NDA like Jharkhand, Gujarat, Madhya
Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
