In a shocking case of public apathy, a government hospital in Darbhanga district of Bihar placed stickers on the forehead of the patients to identify them as earthquake victims.

Patna: In a shocking case of public apathy, Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital ​(DMCH) in Bihar pasted stickers on the forehead of the patients to identify them as earthquake victims.

Pictures showed injured patients in a separate ward of the DMCH earmarked for earthquake victims with stickers reading 'bhukamp' (earthquake) on their foreheads.

When Zee Media highlighted the matter, the hospital administration removed the stickers and apologised for the inhuman treatment meted out to some patients.

However, no action has been taken against those responsible for such insensitive act.

Speaking to Zee Media, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain demanded strict action against the hospital administration.

The BJP leader termed the officials' behaviour as ''indifferent'' and said it is a very sad incident.

“Such acts bring shame to Bihar,” Hussain asserted.

The BJP leader also asked the Bihar Health Minister to apologise.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that the toll in Bihar due to the earthquake has risen to 58 and around 100 people stranded at Pokhara in Nepal have been brought back safely to Raxaul on the India-Nepal border.

The Chief Minister also appealed to citizens of Bihar to come forward to help the earthquake victims in Nepal.

As announced by the CM, a total of 30 buses left for Kathmandu this morning to bring back stranded citizens.
