Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Sunday that CM special category status was necessary for the state's development.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Sunday that CM special category status was necessary for the state's development.

“Special category status necessary for Bihar's development. Only then people will come here to work and invest in the state,” Nitish said.

He added, “GST not a favourable step for Bihar. We require policy support not one Central taxation applicable to every state. Central taxation concession is a must,” as per ANI.

At the same time Nitish pointed out, “Casteism cannot be limited to, defined with or identified with Bihar. It prevails across the Indian subcontinent. This must end. People of Bihar are a very tolerant society. We must end this denigration of Bihar and its people.”

The JD(U) also emphasised, “Historically, at a time Bihar was nation's centre of governance. Its pride has been hurt, being done deliberately. It must end.”

Yesterday, after hoisting the national flag in Patna on Independence Day, Nitish had said that hat Bihar had developed in the last one decade in all sectors including education, health and agriculture, as per IANS.

He had added that the power situation had improved in Bihar and that the state was moving ahead with high growth rate and development.

It would continue to do so in the coming years, he had said.
