Patna: Ten persons were detained by police Friday in connection with the attack on villagers in Bihar's Khagaria district that left 16 people dead.

"We have detained ten persons, including a key suspect, for interrogation at Alaluli police station in Khagaria," ADG (Headquarters) Neelmani told reporters.

Special Task Force (STF) commandos under the supervision of IG (Operation) and IG (Bhagalpur zone) were carrying out raids in the area to nab those involved in the incident.

The state government had ordered a speedy trial of the carnage, he said.

Sixteen people were shot dead by suspected Maoists in a village in the district.
