Wanted woman Maoist arrested in Bihar

A wanted woman Maoist holding a cash award of Rs 50,000 on her head for her alleged involvement in the killing of a district forest officer 13 years back, was arrested from Bihar's Gaya district on Tuesday.



Gaya: A wanted woman Maoist holding a cash award of Rs 50,000 on her head for her alleged involvement in the killing of a district forest officer 13 years back, was arrested from Bihar's Gaya district on Tuesday.

Gaya Senior Superintendent of Police Gaya Manu Maharaj said the Maoist Poonam Devi was arrested from her native Talaiya village.

She is an accused in the killing of Rohtas DFO Sanjay Singh in 2002, he said.

CBI, which is probing the murder, had announced an award of Rs 50,000 on her head.

Poonam Devi, wife of a self-styled area commander Jaykaran Yadav, had left him and was living with another man in Tailaya village from where she has been arrested.
