New Delhi, July 03: FMCG major Dabur on Friday said it is
looking to increase its share to 12-15 percent in the
estimated Rs 2,600-crore Indian shampoo market with the
introduction of a new range of products under its brand name
'Dabur'.
The company said it is entering the shampoo market for the first time under its 'Dabur' brand and aims to achieve three percent share in the estimated Rs 600-crore health shampoo segment.
"This is the first time we are entering the shampoo market under the brand 'Dabur'... Our new product will be in the category of health segment, which are mostly based on nature and Ayurvedic ingredients. We hope to garner about 3 percent share in the health category," a company spokesperson said.
Dabur is present in the shampoo market through its 'Vatika' brand and currently has a market share of around 8-9 percent.
The spokesperson said with the launch, the company is expecting to increase its overall market share to 12 -15 percent in the next two-three years.
"Dabur Total Protect Shampoo is specially targeted at the discerning and contemporary females between 18-32 years who care for their family and look for complete hair care solutions across all age groups," Dabur India Sr Marketing Manager Kunal Dhawan said.
The total shampoo market in India is pegged at Rs 2,600 crore and is growing at 15 percent annually. Innovative promotions, trials, consumer activation are being initiated by the brand to excite the customers, he added.
