New Delhi, Jan 03: The Federation of Indian Airlines
(FIA), the group formed by various carriers, has appointed
Amitabh Khosla from CII as executive director to head its
secretariat and plans to have a director general later.
"We have taken in Amitabh Khosla from CII as executive
director for FIA and are looking forward to gain from his
experience," FIA Chairman and Air-India CMD V Thulasidas told
a news agency from Mumbai.
Khosla has been performing a similar role for the chamber
(CII) as head of its national civil aviation committee and FIA
would benefit from his expertise, he added.
Thulasidas also said FIA was also mulling over appointing
a senior and experienced person as its director general, which
would be carried out later.
"We wanted to appoint a director general also, but it
will be at a later stage. No timeframe has been set for that.
As of now Khosla will be in-charge of FIA Secretariat," he
said.
Khosla is expected to take charge of the Secretariat on
January 18.
In his new assignment, Khosla is expected to play a
proactive role in taking up issues with the government that
will have implications on the civil aviation industry.
With an estimated Rs 2,000 crore loss in the current
fiscal, high aviation turbine fuel costs and congestions at
airports burning a hole in the pockets of many airlines, FIA
Secretariat has its tasks cut out to take up issues.
