Chennai: The Free Trade Agreement signed by India with the 10-member bloc of ASEAN should be mutually beneficial, leading industrialist Rahul Bajaj has said.
"The government must ensure that the Free Trade Agreement signed with ASEAN countries creates a mutual benefit," Bajaj Auto Chairman Rahul Baja said here.
Stressing that the country should gain much more from the FTA, Bajaj said ASEAN countries were 'competitive' and India should also be 'competent' enough.
"There should be equal compromise on the FTA. That is the main concern for auto industry," he said.
Company vice-chairman Madhur Bajaj said there should not be any unfair competition.
"(Auto) industry has to see the benefits signed from this agreement. The FTA may be to enhance good relations between countries. Through this agreement, we understand there is give and take (between countries).”
