Govt approves Indian edition of "Spectator"

Govt approves Indian edition of New Delhi, July 02: Government on Friday approved the publication of Indian edition of British magazine "Spectator" under title "Spectator India", dealing with news and current Affairs, by Telegraph Publications Private Limited.

The approval given by the Ministry for Information and Broadcasting given for the edition is in accordance with its decision to allow Indian editions of foreign publications, subject to conditions laid down by the ministry.

Telegraph Publications Pvt Ltd has been allowed to enter into financial arrangements (such as royalty payment arrangements, etc) with the owners of the foreign magazine, subject to the rules and regulations of the ministry.

Telegraph Publications Private Limited would have to inform the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting within 15 days of effecting any change in the composition of resident Indian directors or key executives and editorial staff.

Such a change would be subject to post facto approval of the ministry, a statement issued by the ministry said.

In case of change in the licence agreement with the foreign entity, Telegraph Publications would have to inform the ministry. Also, at least three-fourth of the directors on the Board of Directors of the Indian company namely Telegraph Publications and all key executives and editorial staff should be resident Indians, as per the I&B Ministry's conditions.
