Tiruchirapalli: Expansion and modernisation work on 35 non-metro airports in the country is on schedule and would be completed in two years, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said here on Saturday.
"Everything is on schedule. Progress is there and we will complete it in two years," he told reporters at the airport here during his brief halt on his return from Tirunallar, famous for the Lord Saneeswaran temple.
The non-metro airports included two in Tamil Nadu --
Madurai and Coimbatore, he said.
Patel said the economic recession has resulted in a 30 percent decline in passenger traffic, but in the last one or two
months, "it is improving and returning to normal.
