Mumbai: The Navy today said it hasn't issued
NOC for a helipad of the Ambanis, saying it would not allow
"indiscriminate construction" of such facilities atop high
rises in Mumbai.
"We cannot allow indiscriminate construction of helipads
atop high rises," Vice Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin, Flag Officer
Commanding in Chief (Western Naval Command) said here.
The Ambanis' helipad at Sea Winds was given permission by
the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), but Navy was
not taken into consideration, he said.
More over, the Navy will request Centre to cancel the No
Objection Certificate (NOC) to Wellington helipad, normally
used by Ratan Tata, he said.
"BMC has given permission for Sea Wind helipad, but we
haven't issued the NOC yet," he said.
The Naval officer's statement comes a day after state's
new chief secretary J P Dange announced that the government is
likely to put the administrative procedures needed for the
clearance of helipads and heliports in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai
on fast track.
"Our priority will be to speed up the proposals related
to helipads and heliports in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai," Dange
had said, adding the proposals will be cleared by the civil
aviation department and civic body.
