NSE, BSE advance trading time to 9 am from Friday Mumbai: The National Stock Exchange has extended the trading timing in equity and equity derivative segments by nearly an hour to 9 am, effective from Friday. The BSE which already extended the trading time for equity and equity derivatives segment by 10 minutes yesterday advanced the time limit on the block deal counter from Friday.

"NSE has advanced the trading timing to 9 am and the extension would be effective from December 18, Friday. The market closing time will remain same at 3.30 pm," an NSE official told.

The trading hours have been extended from the earlier 9.55 am to 3.30 pm.

"With the change in market timings by other exchanges our participants were left with no choice but to extend the timing," NSE Managing Director Ravi Narain told a private TV news channel.

Yesterday the Asia's oldest bourse Bombay Stock Exchange had increased the trading time by 10 minutes to 9:45 am from Friday in the equity, equity derivatives and block deal segments in order to leverage from the pre-lunch trading sessions in the Singapore and Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

"We would closely coordinate with the BSE regarding the change of timing," Narain said.

In October market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) approved extension of the trading timings by up to two-and-a-half hours from 9 am to 5 pm.

BSE today said it would advance the Block Deal Window timing to 9.45 am. With this, the Block Deal Window in the Equity Segment will be available from 9.45 am to 10.20 am from Friday, BSE said.

"Pursuant to Bombay Stock Exchange's announcement of change in trading time yesterday, it has been decided that the Block Deal Window in the Equity Segment will be available from 9.45 am to 10.20 am with effect from Friday," the bourse said in a statement.

The BSE yesterday said it would extend trading time by 10 minutes from Friday in the equity and equity derivatives segments on all business days.

The trading hours were advanced from 9.45 am to 3.30 from the earlier 9.55 am to 3.30 pm.
