Bangalore: Premier Inn, UK's leading hotel
chain, today announced its foray into the mid-market segment
with the launch of its first hotel in Bangalore.
"There is a huge demand for cost effective and quality
rooms from both corporates and individual travellers ", Aly
Shariff, Managing Director, Premier Inn India, told reporters.
The 105-room-hotel which had become operational and
offered facilities like a multi-cuisine restaurant, gymnasium
bar and conference rooms, would target IT corporates, he said.
Premier Inn, part of Whitbread Plc, UK's leading hotel and
restaurant group, plans to launch properties in New Delhi in
late 2010 (142 rooms) and Pune in early 2011 (125 rooms).
It has also confirmed two other properties, he said but did
not elaborate. "We also subsequently plan to look at other
metros and tier two cities", Aly said.
The group is planning an investment of Rs 400 crore in the
next three to five years for developing these properties. It
was looking at around 750 rooms through these five hotels.
The Rs 400 crore would be sourced through equity and it
was looking at raising funds through debt in future, he said.
The price point per room for the Bangalore property would
be an introductory price of Rs 2600 plus taxes, Aly said. Its
positioning would be "Good night sleep guaranteed or money
back". The services in India have been tweaked as per
feedback and research by the group.
Premier has 590 hotels with 40,000 bedrooms located in the
UK and Dubai.
