Chennai: Days after a lawyer was hacked to death in broad daylight in the city, a young Infosys employee was killed in a similar fashion at Nungambakkam railway station on Friday morning.

24-year-old S Swathi, a resident of Choolaimedu, was waiting at platform number 2 to take the suburban train to reach her workplace at Mahindra Tech Park when a man, wearing green shirt and black pants, approached her.

After a few minutes of heated arguments, he took out a sickle from his travelling bag and hacked attacked her multiple times. Swathi tried to run but lost balance and fell on the ground.

Her assailant escaped before those present on the platform could react; Swathi lay there bleeding to a painful death. Her body lay on the platform for two hours before it was shifted to the mortuary.

Reports said that the police suspect that someone known to her was behind the dastardly attack and is questioning her family and friends to get some leads.
