New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, Monday, expelled party MP Sasikala Pushpa from the party over the 'slapgate' incident.

She was expelled minutes after she alleged in the Rajya Sabha that she is facing a threat from the party and is being harassed to leave her constitutional post.

A tweet from the official Twitter handle of the AIADMK read, "Sasikala Pushpa sacked from the party for bringing ill fame to the party – Puratchi Thalaivi Amma."

Earlier, Pushpa broke down in the Upper House of the Parliament. "I need protection. I don’t have safety in Tamil Nadu. There is a threat to my life,” she said.

"I’m being compelled to resign from my constitutional post. I will not do it. If an MP is being slapped by a leader, what is this? We should have human dignity,” she added further.

Incidentally, Pushpa had yesterday met Jayalalithaa to appraise her side of the story in the 'slapgate' incident.

On Saturday, Sasikala had got into a scuffle with DMK MP Tiruchi Siva at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and slapped him in a fit rage.

She later claimed that she had slapped Siva as 'he exceeded all limits while criticising Amma (Jayalalithaa) and her government.'
